When the Silver Haired Legislature hands out its Caring Award each year, there’s usually just one recipient. As Irv Hoffman explains, the award is designed to recognize an individual who has demonstrated over a significant period of time caring for seniors and their plight.
This year, however, the award went to 181 recipients. It was presented to the entire staff of the Kansas Department on Aging.
As Secretary, I am well aware of the hard work and dedication KDOA employees do each day for Kansas seniors, their families and caregivers. So it is especially heartening to see that others also understand and appreciate the work they do.
To this wonderful staff, I say congratulations on this well-deserved award, and I add my thanks for all these co-workers do for Kansas seniors.
