Hillcrest House Fined $10,000

The Kansas Department on Aging (KDOA) has imposed a $10,000 civil monetary penalty and ban on admissions for Multi-Community Diversified Services Inc., doing business as Hillcrest House, 2322 Hillcrest Dr., Emporia.

The fine and ban resulted from violations that resulted in, cuased or posed serious physical harm to a resident or residents of the facility. The violations were identified in a survey on March 8-27, 2006.

The admissions ban prohibits the facility from accepting new residents until the deficiencies are corrected. Once KDOA staff determines that the deficiencies are corrected, KDOA will lift the prohibition.

The facility has the right to appeal the fine and request a hearing on the ban on admissions.
