Bethel Health Care Centre fined $10,000 and ban on Admissions

The Kansas Department on Aging (KDOA) has imposed a $10,000 civil monetary penalty and ban on admissions for Bethel Health Care Centre, 3001 Ivy Dr., North Newton.

The fine and ban resulted from violations which significantly and adversely affected the health, safety, nutrition or sanitation of the adult care residents of the facility. The violations were identified in a survey on March 9 and 10, 2006.

The admissions ban prohibits the facility from accepting new residents until the deficiencies are corrected. Once KDOA staff determines that the deficiencies are corrected, KDOA will lift the prohibition.

The facility has the right to appeal the fine and request a hearing on the ban on admissions.
