The Kansas Department on Aging is accepting nominations for the 2005 Quality of Life Awards and the 2005 Caregiver of the Year Award. These awards honor Kansans who devote their lives to improving the lives of Kansas seniors. Winners are selected by members of the Kansas State Advisory Council on Aging.
The annual Quality of Life Award has been expanded this year into two categories. The first category, the Community Quality of Life Award honors an outstanding older person who has demonstrated a commitment to aging issues to seniors in their community. Nominees for the Community Award should have demonstrated outstanding volunteer work dedicated to serving the community and older Kansans and have actively participated in civic/community groups or organizations that reflect a commitment to Kansas seniors.
The second category, the Employment Quality of Life Award, honors an outstanding older person who makes a significant community contribution to seniors through their employment. The nominee should also have demonstrated dedication on the job as well as community involvement.
Both awards require nominees to be a Kansas resident. Persons nominated for the Quality of Life awards must be 60 years of age or older. Nominees for the Employment Quality of Life Award should demonstrate outstanding employment dedicated to improving the lives of Kansas seniors, such as a demonstration of caring attitude, time commitment, and quality care.
